How can you help SHIRLEY?
1. Spread the word! Please share this post so it reaches as many people as possible.
2. Consider being a living donor. Even if at this time you are unable to be a living donor please send to friends and family. A living kidney donor can live their life as normal with only one kidney. A living liver donor would also survive with only a portion of a liver because the human liver can regenerate. After a few weeks, the liver works as normal and fully grows back within a year.
A living donor must be over the age of 16, in good health and willing to freely donate. If you, or someone you know is interested in becoming a living donor, select uhn.ca online and under Programs choose Ajmera Transplant Centre. Complete the Living Donor History Form found under Living Donor Program. Currently 1,600 people are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Shirley is just one of them.
