Sharing & Caring-A Call to ServE
Annually, we make a contribution from the RAP fees to charities that serve children in Dufferin-Peel. We started by making one $500 donation in 2004 and have since evolved into two $500 donations because our overhead expenses have declined in the digital age. We aim to target two charities, one in the north and one in the south areas of the board and keep the same charity for two consecutive years. Qualifying charity names are suggested to the executive, who then make the final decision.
This year our donations are going to Ronald McDonald House Charities & Smile Zone. Please scroll down to see details of both donations. $500.00 - 2019 Contribution - Ronald McDonald House On December 3, this year, the executive, on behalf of the members, made our contribution, through Sharon McCarthy, one of our members, to Ronald McDonald House, Toronto (Click here to visit RMH website) in honour of Jordan McInerney. Jordan is the 6 year-old granddaughter of Bill McInerney (one of our webmasters). She is a survivor of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She spent much of her young life until she was over 4 years old, living with her family at RMH while being treated at Sick Kids Hospital. Ronald McDonald House was a life-saver for Jordan and for countless other children. Coincidentally, December 3 was "Giving Day" a day when businesses give back. RMH's donor was Saputo Dairy Co. This company pledged to match any donations made to RMH on December 3. So, our $500.00 donation became $1000.00. Pictured below is the presentation ceremony of the $500.00 donation. |

What We Do
We believe that every child deserves to smile, no matter what circumstances they face. Over a single weekend, our team transforms an existing waiting room, treatment room or patient care room into a Smilezone! (Click here to see Smile Zone site)

(l-r) George Consitt (RAP Vice President) Ralph Borrelli (donor) and Carly Price (Smile Zone Foundation)
Ralph and George presented a $500.00 donation to Carly Price of the Smilezone Foundation. This donation was made on behalf of Maureen Lanois’ granddaughter Olivia.
At the age of 15, Olivia was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She received treatment and was hospitalized. Adam and Violet Graves founders of Smilezone visited Olivia in the hospital. Olivia and Adam discussed what she did on a daily basis and the activities and environment for teens. Adam saw the need for bright, fun and comforting rooms that provided interesting activities through technology, art and therapy. The Smilezone foundation was created and serves children throughout the province. Olivia is doing great now attending Trent University.
